But, if your roof is still relatively young (less than 10 years old), and most shingles on seem to be in good shape with no visible cracks or major chipping in the shingles, then you may be able to get a few/several more years of service by properly repairing it, once the cause and location of the leak has been properly diagnosed and identified.

It is recommended to use a breathable synthetic roofing underlayment as opposed to a regular tar paper that is going to disintegrate, and it could actually stick to your newly installed metal roof from underneath! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Ouch! Make sure that your roof deck is free of any exposed nail heads, then install your underlayment in an overlapping fashion. Use a minimum of six inches of an overlap.
